2005 Season - Week 12

The Mooch is Gone

After the Thanksgiving Day debacle Lions GM Matt Millen has fired Coach Steve Mariucci. In less than 3 seasons his record was 15-28. The rules say that when a player or coach gets cut they are available for another team and as such still active, therefore Wayne cannot choose a new coach. After Trading Day 2 only players placed on IR can e replaced. The biggest question we’d like to ask our Lions correspondent is whether it’s Millen who should have gone, he’s 20-55 since joining them. Byron Banged Johnny and Jaguar QB Byron Leftwich broke his ankle in Arizona on Sunday and will be out 4-6 weeks. David Garrard will replace him for the Jags in their play-off push, nobody will replace him for Johnny. 11 and Oh After The Colts beat Pittsburgh on Monday Night they have won the first 11 games of the season and there is much talk of an unbeaten season. More important for The Colts is the fact that only 6 teams in Superbowl history have not lost through 11 games, 5 of them went on to the Superbowl, 4 of them winning it, the Colts preferred aim. Team Nicknames As mentioned a few weeks ago Agent Provocateur John Botten who suggests most of our key rules proposes that we all have nicknames for our teams. It’s time for you to vote on his motion. Please send me your vote by reply, ‘YES’ for adding nicknames to our tables or ‘NO’ for keeping the rankings as our names. Results next week. Paul Ponders While visiting the UK last weekend Paul proved scientifically that the New England Patriot, winners of 3 of the last 4 Superbowls, are not a dynasty. This floored the BUMS present (Chief and Stampy) and Paul will present his case shortly. Look out for his email and please feel free to copy in everyone with your thoughts! BUMS on Seats. We will be at BUMS HQ from 6pm on Sunday to see the huge NFC South match-up as the Atlanta Falcons (7-4) take on the division leading Carolina Panthers (8-3). That’s followed by an equally big AFC West game as Kansas City (7-4) host the division leading Denver Broncos (9-2) in a game that the Chiefs must have.
